It has always been a tradition the the Stage School has celebrated its' momentus birthdays with big charity shows, and this year is no different !

Going back to 1979 with the 10th Birthday Show which was held at the Claygate Village Hall and presented by the school's founder, Jill Jackman

In 1994 the schools previous principal Pamela Webb presented "Applause" the 15th Birthday Show which was held at the "Adrian Mann Theatre" in Ewell. The 21st show "One World" followed in the year 2000 and was held at the "Epsom Playhouse" and all profits were donated to Childline. Michelle was already a teacher at the school by then and performed in the 21st show. In 2004 we were back at Claygate Village Hall with Michelle who was now the school's principal. This show was called "Decades" and raised funds for a couple of charities, one being the Queen Elizabeth Foundation for disabled people. The 30th show and 35th birthday show "Lost 4 Words" were both performed back at the "Adrian Mann Theatre" and raised over £14,000.00 for the "Childrens Trust" based in Tadworth. One of the lovely things about our shows is we always try to get a celebrity to present the cheque to our chosen charity and we have been lucky enough to have Bonnie Langford, Ian Adams and Michaela Strachan (who was one of the schools pupils !) and most recently, Anita Harris.

So here we are in 2009 celebrating the school turning 40 years old. Our celebration charity show however will be held next year in 2010 and once again we will be returning to the "Adrian Mann Theatre" in Ewell. This theatre has become part of our tradition. The theme for this show is yet to be announced but to give you a clue, think "The Puzzle" !!! This show will be the first time we premier ALL our students, right from our youngest who are rising 3, to our more advanced students.

As with all our fundraising shows, we have a chosen charity and we will be supporting "The Childrens Trust" again. This charity has become very special to the school and we go along every year to perform at their summer garden party. Fundraising will begin in earnest this summer and some of the events planned include a Summer Party, Wine Tasting evening, Quiz Night, Curry Night, Bag packing at Sainsburys, Xmas Bazaar, Dance Day for all the parents including Street Dance and Bollywood, and much, much more !!!

We have a wonderful committee who include myself as Charman, Dawn Lacey and then parents Mandy Kandrettis, Sally Burns, Jan Hand, Clare Jeffery, Emma Welch, Lynn Hunt, Carolyn Batley and Lydia Evans but we are looking for more volunteers to come and join us either on the committee or the sub-committe which is being formed for the year of the show.

Our shows will be held on Thursday 1st, Friday 2nd and two performances on Saturday 3rd July 2010 with dress rehearsals on Sunday 20th and Sunday 27th June.

So PLEASE do let us know if you would like to join us either on the committe or sub-committe and be more actively involved in our Birthday celebrations.

It will be a wonderful experience for everyone involved and the students will be left with memories that really do last a lifetime.
