We are delighted to announce that Chadsworth Stage School has ONCE AGAIN been chosen to take part in Connections with the National Theatre

This exciting project is open to anyone aged between 12 and 19, even if you don't already attend the stage school, and we will be starting rehearsals this coming November 2016.  Anyone interested in getting involved with this should contact the school office.

Connections began 20 years ago when teachers and directors told us that they wanted exciting and challenging new plays for young actors. Since then the NT has commissioned and published more than 140 plays for Connections, giving young people aged 13-19 across the UK and Ireland access to the very best new writing for theatre.

Connections gives young people experience of professional theatre-making. Their experience mirrors that of a company producing a new play in any theatre in the country. They create marketing campaigns, design sets and costumes, operate lighting and sound boards, stage-manage their performances. In 2013, each company had the experience of performing in a leading regional theatre, at one of the Connections festivals around the country.

Each year the Connections team travels the length and breadth of the country to support and encourage the participants – the drama teachers and youth theatre directors who take on the challenge of staging a new play, and the young theatre companies. Each year we are thrilled by the skill, creativity, commitment and passion that go into each production, often on a shoestring budget and a rehearsal schedule carved out around school commitments.

It was with regret that we announced that the school’s founder, Jill Jackman, sadly passed away on 2nd July 2015.  Jill founded Chadsworth Stage School in 1969 and, with her husband Mike, built the foundations of today’s successful School. She retired from the School in 1991 and moved away from Claygate to live in the Isle of Wight. She often came back to visit us in Claygate and took a keen interest in the development of Chadsworth. Jill christened the School “Chadsworth” as this was the original name for the village of Claygate. Jill will be sorely missed by all her friends at Chadsworth.

The Chadsworth Stage School, First Steps and Starlets is a non-vocational part time stage school based in Esher (Surrey), specialising in many aspects of the performing arts. The school provides regular classes, usually outside school hours, in various areas of dance - ballet, tap, modern, singing, musical theatre and drama. The school also runs 4 Street Dance troupes called Kaos and 4 Bollywood troupes as well as our popualr Friday Project Juniors & Seniors.

Classes are held in Claygate and the School covers the following sylabus, RAD Ballet, ISTD Tap and Modern and LAMDA Acting, Verse and Prose and Musical Theatre. Examinations. Chadsworth is a locally run business and is like a family with a friendly atmosphere providing regular classes for children of all ages. Chadsworth also provides specialist classes for our Starlets aged from 1 to 5 and then First Steps from age 5 to 9.
